I've been thinking about this for a while now.
My Life As 3D has only had one guest blog post since I started it. That was from my wife, who just recently wrote something on my son's one-year sober anniversary date.
But the guest blogger I'd most like to see an appearance from is...my son. He's a great writer, but I don't know if he'd be willing to contribute or not.
Maybe in time I will ask him.
It could happen.
I would love to hear from your son. I have always hoped my son would write and share his story as well. I don't think they have any idea of the impact they could have not only on others suffering from addiction but also on the family members devastated by this disease. Their dark past is their greatest gift because it offers them the ability to offer hope to others. People are often given public recognition because they save a life or two. Our kids have the ability to help save hundreds of lives. I am so glad your boy is doing well.
ReplyDeleteGive it time. It took me over 18 months to even speak publicly about my own. You might simply suggest that he checks out other recovering addicts blogs just so he can see that so many others have found such relief in opening up. I was so surprised as to how much positivity and support I received from friends, family as well as complete strangers...this alone made me feel amazing and such courage to continue on in my recovery and blogging about it! You of course can send him a link to mine if you think that might help him: http://mollysrecoveryproject.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteAgain,as always...my prayers are with you all.
