I just stumbled upon your blog and have read several of your entries. I have to say I'm in tears. I am suffering from the opposite of what you have been through. I am 31 years old and both of my parents are heroin addicts. It is terrible to deal with. I am a recovering alcoholic and addict myself with 6.5 wonderful years sober. But it's really hard to watch my family disintegrate like this. Anyhow, thanks for this blog; I will be sure to follow and I'm so glad your eldest son has 10 months clean. That's something to be be so proud of. You and your wife seem like wonderful people---I don't know you but am grateful for you. Not everyone gets it. And its so hard when its your family. I don't have children, but can't imagine what it would be like to be in your shoes. God Bless----Mike
Mike... My heart goes out to you, my friend. I will pray for your parents, and for you as well. Congratulations on your 6.5 years of sobriety. That's a beautiful thing. My wife and I are going on 5 years sober ourselves. We quit drinking when a family therapist at my son's second rehab facility said, "Be the change you want to see in your son." We're all in. Sobriety is badass. I hope your parents realize that someday. Much love to you.
I really think you're a courageous and smart person! Go on like this , never give up! Your children have a wonderful father! Dear Mike, you're an example for everybody. Much love to you all and God bless you!! ...forgive my mistakes, I am Italian
Way to go son! And thank you Dad for sharing this story of hope.
